Inspired by a fighter plane and a supercar, the Callaway FT-iQ is the company's next generation square driver. The futuristic head is made from a combination of materials a carbon composite, titanium, aluminium and a dense metal alloy. This lightweight design means that 18% of the club's weight is made up of the external weight unit (that you can see attached to the back of the head).
The head shape has been made more aerodynamic, which helps to increase clubhead speed for added distance and the centre of gravity is lower and deeper. The standard model has draw weighting to help minimise slices while an FT-iQ Tour version is also available with neutral weighting in the head.

The original Callaway FT-i was undoubtedly one of the straightest drivers the Golf Monthly team had ever seen. The criticism was that it lacked distance. This modified shape promises to be more aerodynamic and we certainly noticed the extra yards. We reckon the modified shape is also better to look down on and the weighting helps square the face at impact. The Callaway FT-iQ is not a driver for those who see shaping the ball as a priority, but the majority of players will be impressed by the straight drives it helps to produce.

Callaway are readying what it describes as its 'straightest ever driver' for the 2009 golf season in the form of the Callaway FT-iQ driver . The sleak loking new Callaway FT-iQ driver has been designed using influences from Lamborghini supercars and stealth jet fighters and the sample obtained by the Today's Golfer golf equipment team certainly echoes this.

9.5 Tour with the actual 63 Fubuki ( reps menttioned that the regular version has a lower model Fubuki in it). 1* open is great for dog legs and workability. But when you need to go down the chute, it does just that. Different , but likeable sound at impact and heavier feeling than most other Drivers I have tested.

had the ft5 and it usually took care of my slice. It was 10 degree draw after I had returned 11 degree draw. Still a great club, but the FT-IQ is a whole lot straighter. This club has draw designed in and has cut my slice to minimal and the tour version is neutral they say. I tried it in the shop and it would not fail. the club hits very straight. hit off the heel, at the shaft connection and it almost goes straight.

This driver is much hotter than its 2007 counterpart. Incredibly easy to keep straight. The face is a little more closed at address than the original FT-i, with the regular model at 1* closed and the tour model at .5* open. I also tried the FT-9 and Diablo before i bought this. The FT-IQ seemed to have a much hotter club face than the other two.

  I hit a series of drivers (all with custom shafts) at the range with a launch monitor. The Callaway FT-iQ Driver was the longest, straightest club I hit, beating the Ping, the R11 and my 2008 TM Burner.

  What a driver it is!!!! I used this club and hit my drive 40 yards past the longest drive marker on the 15th hole!!!! It has unstoppable distance and so do I when I have it in my hands!!!!!! It's a beast!!!!!

  Easy to hit! I have the 10 loft; the head shape is unconventional but not distasteful. The face is closed but it doesn't bother me for now. The feel at impact is hot and bouncy and the sound reminds me of a hammer coming down on a nail. Distance is about the same as my Titleist driver. The FT-iQ is a confidence inspiring driver that takes the stress out of the tee box.

  This FT-IQ driver has added 12-18 yards to my tee shot--NO JOKE-- Even when I hit a slightly off center shot I hardly lose any distance. This is by far the best driver I have ever owned, and Ive owned a more than a few.
