The Callaway FT-9 Driver is the successor to the hugely successful FT-5 range and offers the thinking, cretive golfer the chance to gain extra distance from the tee without losing any of the workability so crucial in the shaping of shots. Before it is even released to the general public the FT-9 Driver has proved to be one of the most popular on the PGA European Tour. For the first time a Callaway Driver uses Hyberbolic Face Cup Technology to shape the clubface and ensure vastly superior ball speed across the entire face combined with Callaway's largest ever face.

The titanium face has been designed using Hyperbolic Face Shaping which allows Callaway’s designers and engineers to use the kind of high performance materials and design principles commonly found in aircraft and Formula 1 cars. The Fusion Technology which underpins the whole FT ranges allows the FT-9 to create maximum perimeter weighting to ensure ultra forgiveness on ever off centre shots. Externally placed weights allow the FT-9 to have its centre of gravity in the optimum location to deliver the ideal, penetrative ball flight. The Callaway FT-9 Driver is already the choice of the Tour and promises to deliver to every golfer Tour style length and workability.

Visible External Web Weighting
Fusion Technology allows the web weights to be precisely positioned for a center of gravity that generates the desired Draw or Neutral ball flights, letting golfers hit longer and more accurate drives.

OptiFit Weighting System
Enables golfers to customize their driver by giving them two center of gravity locations to choose from: Draw for promoting a draw or reducing a slice/fade, and Neutral for maximum workability.

Fusion Technology
Proprietary technology creates maximum perimeter weighting and more discretionary weight by combining a carbon composite body with the titanium face cup. This allows for precise positioning of the center of gravity, which increases stability on off-center hits and enables ball flight customization for shot-shaping control.

The Callaway FT-9 driver is one of the best composite material drivers we have tested. Unlike most other composite drivers, the sound was very solid and the flight of the ball was excellent. Unlike past FT models, the FT-9 looks very good and more 'powerful' at address. The thick titanium top line has been reduced and we think this is a style that will appeal to a wider audience than Callaway diehards. What might not appeal though is the price which is at the premium end of the market and the performance of the club does just enough to justify it, so make sure you get it custom fitted to make the most of your money. If you find the flight a little high for you try the Tour or Tour Draw version where the weight is slightly further back, although the face is that extra degree open which better players will like.

  I played this FT-9 Driver yesterday. I was absolutely bombing it with this thing consistently, 20 yards longer than I have ever hit it before. The 10 degree loft is a considerably different ball flight from my Cobra 10.5 degree, much lower and penetrating giving me more travel once the ball hits the turf. Great club!
