The Taylor Made R9 SuperDeep TP driver features a 460cc head with an ultra-deep face and is designed to be a pure player's driver. It includes both Flight Control Technology (FCT) and Movable Weight Technology (MWT) with two movable weights, allows for up to an astonishing 448 combinations of ball flight. Its more forward center of gravity and lower MOI increase its shot-shaping capability.

 

New R9 SuperDeep tp Driver by Taylormade was announced at the Japan Golf Fair yesterday for an expected March Release. This 460cc bad boy has the appearance in person of a 400-420cc driver. The first thing we noticed was the letters BBLB in a cool font written on the sole.

Three of us were able to hit the new R9 SuperDeep tp in the test cage and we must say Taylormade has an excellent players driver in this one. On the launch monitor we produced nice low spin numbers and a low mid trajectory, although I didnt mess around with the settings (set to it's stock form) we were suprised at the low launch numbers we were getting. So if you need a lower flight and miss the ball high or low of center this is a good option for you. we do not suggest it to anyone who requires a mid/high trajectory or misses heel to toe.

 

R9 SuperDeep tp driver is intended for those players that continue to fight against a high launch and a high rate of spin on their tee shots. Regardless of what loft and customized shaft they have tried to correct for this problem, this type of player realizes that the head design and CG location of the taylormade r9 superdeep tp driver is what is needed. The face depth of the SuperDeep is at the USGA legal limit. This unique design feature along with a more forward positioned CG location allows for even the highest swing speed players to bring down their launch conditions. The additional weights that are offered with the SuperDeep also cater to the technician type of player who will utilize these weights to fine tune both trajectory and swingweight.

  only got to try the club at the instore simulator but instantly added about 20 yards to my drive. super light weight , was generating club head speeds of 105 to 108mph which is killer for me.

  It allows you to take a nice and easy swing and still be able to hit the ball 270 yards and above.It is quick and very easy. I was able to fade or draw my tee shot when needed without having to change my swing or stance. It makes holes a lot more easier

  Distance was the same for me off the sweet spot. I will keep this club until they come out with its replacement. I love the new Callaway Razr Tour, but the TM SD is just a little more fun to hit. My only complaint would be the feeling of hitting it thin.

  I am not too much of a tinkerer, but I like to have options open with shafts. Taylormade driver technology is among the best in the business, and this club stacks up very well against the new R11. The R11 is more forgiving, higher spin (300rpm) and higher trajectory for me with the same shaft.
