To say the buzz about the AP1 and AP2 irons from Titleist is loud is an understatement of quite some size. I cannot recall a product release in the last couple of years that generated the amount of interest, comments, feedback and questions from Sand Trap readers and forum members as these groundbreaking, technology-infused irons from the traditionally traditional Titleist.
Between our announcement of the 2008 lineup, Erik's field test and his AP2 review, we've received well hundreds of comments and questions. Add this to the amount of discussion and buzz in our forum and it's really quite remarkable the excitement these irons have generated.

Building upon the high technology design and resounding success of the Titleist 2010 AP1 irons, Titleist introduces the new high performance AP1 irons for avid golfers. The Titleist AP1 are multi-material, dual cavity irons that take the design mission of "Advanced Performance You Can Feel" to new heights. The concept for the original Advanced Performance irons arose as a result of research that indicated serious golfers want performance with great feel, not performance at the expense of feel. The Titleist R&D team’s advanced research group has been conducting extensive sound and vibration analysis aimed at reducing the harsh lower frequency vibration that causes poor feel in irons.Design and Technology
Developing an iron that maintains the coveted "Titleist feel" yet is forgiving enough for us double-digit handicap golfers is a tall order. That Titleist claims to have done so is nothing short of remarkable. The dual cavity and multi-material design are a radical departure from anything Titleist has made in the past and have been designed with one key bit of player feedback at the forefront: feel. The Advanced Performance (AP)1 irons are cast from 431 stainless steel and feature a tungsten nickel box that is laser welded to the body and is located in the back and sole of the iron. It covers the lower cavity and is designed to keep weight lower while giving players both good feel and added forgiveness. This lower center of gravity gives players a higher launch angle with more ball speed and what Titleist calls "consistent spin performance across the hitting area." The upper cavity sits above the elastomer cushion and is adorned with a metallic cavity plate. Weight is pushed to the perimeter to give you increased forgiveness.
The cavities are separated by what Titleist calls a "central cross member and elastomer cushion" which provide rigidity behind the impact area of the thin clubface as well as lessons vibration to give you increased feel. Again, it's all about providing feel.
The wider sole offers playability from various lies without "excess bounce or dig," meaning you are still going to get decent shots even if you happen to hit the ball a bit fat. That's helpful for those of us who don't always make the best swing.
More Forgiving
Perimeter weighted back flange and tungsten nickel sole bar locates the CG low and deep for increased MOI, forgiveness, and stability.
Higher Ball Speed
Thin face, dual cavity design pushes weight to the perimeter for a hotter face and flight.
Improved Short Irons
Shorter blade length, a thinner topline, and reduced visual offset deliver control and performance.
NS Pro 105T Shaft
High performance lightweight shaft with a medium tip for control and a softer mid section for feel.Advanced Performance With Feel
High quality, high technology design and construction featuring a stainless steel body, tungsten nickel sole and Tuned Feel System enhances performance and feel.
Improved Feel
The thin face with integrated aluminum and soft elastomer Tuned Feel System in the back cavity improves sound and feel at impact for a hotter, more lively feel. A high density tungsten nickel sole bar reduces low frequency vibration for a solid feel.Esthetics
Confessional time. The first time I saw pictures of the AP1 irons, I thought the folks at Titleist had gone crazy. They looked… well… ugly. I equated Titleist with making beautiful looking clubs and these were shockingly different. "Big" and "clunky" were two adjectives that came to mind. After unboxing my set of AP1, I was reminded never to judge a club's true appearance based on pictures found on the Internet. In person, the AP1 look quite nice. They are still a bit "busy" for me graphically and might end up being an acquired taste for some, but you don't see the graphics or cavity-back elastomer insert at address, so for the most part, I've forgotten about the "business." In real life, the AP1 don't look big or clunky at all.
Titleist says the "AP1 irons offer a contemporary, confidence inspiring appearance in the playing position and a semi-underslung hosel junction." Simply put, they are a nice, traditional looking iron with some serious technology hidden inside. Rounding out the looks department are dual hosel lengths with shorter ones in the long irons to keep the weight low to help out with launch and a consistent blade length with enhanced progressive offset.
Performance
Let's get this out of the way right off the bat: the AP1 irons are not some magic club that will correct your slice, lower your handicap overnight, and cause you to be the envy of your playing partners (well, maybe the last one). These are still Titleist irons and even though they have some serious technology to make them more forgiving, they will smack you around if you do not make a decent pass at the ball. From Golf Magazine (April 2011)

We tested: 4-GW with Titleist NS Pro 105T steel shaftKey Technologies: A soft medallion insert (made of elastomer and aluminum) in the back cavity enhances sound and feel. The stainless steel body has a heavy tungsten-nickel weight along the sole to improve overall forgiveness on mis-hits.
OUR TESTERS SAY: Solid performer across all categories. A game-improvement iron for players who prefer a more traditional profile.
PROS
PLAYABILITY: Predominant ball flight is high, especially in short and middle irons.
ACCURACY/FORGIVENESS: These are deadly accurate clubs—it's super-easy to hit the green (or your target); the AP1 generates very little sidespin.
DISTANCE CONTROL: Several testers are up to one full club longer than with their set.
FEEL: Testers concur that the multi-material cavity badge does what it promises—soft, authoritative feel on good impact.
LOOK: Clean and classy; game-improvement features such as perimeter weighting, offset and cavity badge are hardly noticeable in the address position.CONS
Some testers experience limited shotmaking capability due, in part, to high ball flight; feel is too muted for a few. From Golf Magazine (ClubTest, March 2010)

We tested: 4-PW with Nippon NS Pro 105T steel shaftCompany line: "These multi-material, dual-cavity irons take 'Advanced Performance You Can Feel' to new heights. The 'Tuned Feel System' is a co-molded medallion of soft elastomer and an aluminum plate. We reduced face thickness to provide enhanced heel, toe, and deep weighting and moved tungsten-nickel to the sole for increased stability and forgiveness."
Our Testers say:
PROS: Top-tier performers; accurate sticks, they're straight shooters so aim where you want to hit it; delivers consistent, precise distances; some testers experience easy, high ball flight from poor lies; tight dispersion allows you to go pin seeking; leans to playability more than forgiveness; overall balanced weight distribution breeds confidence; soft feel eliminates any harshness; among the best on greenside shots.CONS: Some testers prefer more forgiveness on iffy swings; soft, muted feel on mis-hits—you know you miss it but not much beyond that; a few testers get adequate distance but want more.
From Sports Illustrated Golf+ Equipment Issue (February 8, 2010)
Building on the high-tech design and success of the original AP (Advanced Performance) irons, Titleist is offering two new multimaterial, dualcavity sets this year — the AP1 and the AP2. "The AP1 and AP2 embody significant improvements in feel, forgiveness and shot control to what had already been recognized as a revolutionary step forward in iron design," says Steve Pelisek, general manager of Titleist golf clubs. "The AP1 and AP2 feature the most successful marriage of playability and forgiveness — plus traditional looks, feel and feedback — in the market today."
The concept for the original AP irons came from research showing that serious golfers want performance but not at the expense of feel. The Titleist research and development team has been conducting extensive sound and vibration analysis aimed at reducing the harsh lower-frequency vibration that causes poor feel in irons. This research led to combining several technologies and materials in the back cavity of the AP irons, resulting in a Tuned Feel System that enhances feel.
"The AP1 and AP2 irons retain the dual-cavity design and multimaterial construction that is the key to their advanced performance," says Dan Stone, Titleist's vice president of R and D . "However, the designs have been upgraded for feel with the addition of the Tuned Feel System. The structure of the AP1 also provides improved forgiveness, while a modified sole on the new AP2 provides improved ground control."
The Tuned Feel System is a comolded medallion of soft elastomer and an aluminum plate. This insert has been designed to improve sound and feel. For the thinner-face, larger-cavity AP1, a more lively feel has been created. For the AP2 a softer, more solid feel is achieved.
AP1 Irons
Extensive improvements to the AP1 include reducing the face thickness to provide enhanced heel, toe and deep external weighting to the frame as well as an internally perimeter-weighted, tungsten-nickel sole bar for increased stability and forgiveness.
From GOLF Magazine (November 2009)
The new-and-improved AP1 has a smaller blade length and less offset than the previous version. It features a 65-gram tungsten nickel bar along the sole (the center of gravity is 8 percent lower) for added forgiveness. A thinner face with a cavity medallion (made of aluminum and soft elastomer) elicits solid, lively impact feel. The proprietary lightweight Nippon steel shaft facilitates shotmaking.Related Searches: titleist 2010 ap1 irons online, new titleist irons 2010, titleist ap1 irons review, titleist 2010 ap1 irons review, titleist 2010 ap1 irons reviews, titleist 2010 ap1 irons for sale, titleist 2010 ap1 irons price, titleist 2010 ap1 irons specs, titleist 2010 ap1 irons shop, titleist 2010 ap1 irons stores, titleist 2010 ap1 irons 3-9p, titleist 2010 ap1 irons right, titleist 2010 ap1 irons graphite shaft, titleist 2010 ap1 irons steel shaft

They are without a doubt the best irons I have ever hit. Average about 15 yards longer than previous set. Tried several prior to purchase and there was no question after trying them all. Highly recommend to anyone.
do you have these Titleist 2010 AP1 Irons in steel, stiff?
Buyinggolfonline: thanks for your asking. Titleist 2010 AP1 Irons in steel, stiff is available at this moment. Please feel free to place your order. Regards.
After trying out products in this price range from all the other major manufacturers, I went with the AP1's because of their excellent feel and their looks. I hit at least twenty yards further with each club. These clubs are very forgiving, even in the long irons.
Great feel, consistent ball flight and UN believable distance. I just got fitted for these a couple of weeks ago and finally got out to the course and hit a lot of greens and was very impressed at the distance gains and consistent boring ball flight over my old irons. These were a great buy for me.
Good iron for the better player. thanks for your good service and quick delivery.
The Titleist 2010 AP1 Irons can be the best one I bought, very easy to control. The irons has help me improve my score, I am really very satisfied with the club.
What I love about this club, is that I hit it further more than the my old irons. I decided to buy one after hitting my friend's Titleist 2010 AP1 Irons. This club will help me, win some of the money.
