Callaway's new FTiZ fairway wood is the latest in the line of the company's FT (fusion technology) clubs to incorporate a mix of materials in the head for improved performance.

The Callaway FT iZ Fairway Wood offers unprecedented distance, stability, consistency and feel in every shot. Polar weighting localizes most of the clubhead's weight in ft-iz fairway wood's face and the back power source, producing the highest levels of ball speed consistency, Ft-iz's clubhead stability and feel to increase linear acceleration of the golf ball. The aerodynamic body design helps decrease drag for higher swing speeds and ultra-thin VFT Technology creates hotter ball speeds for longer distance. Fusion Technology uses multiple materials that allow for extreme weight placement to ensure the optimal combination of performance and feel with stunning looks.

While multi-material technology is more prevalent in drivers, Callaway has used it to take fairway wood development to the next level and incorporate a Polar Weighting system to the new clubs.

This means a mix of titanium, carbon fibre, aluminium and steel has all been fused together in the head to result in a heavier face, heavy rear weighting and an ultra-light mid section for a high MOI and more stability throughout the strike.
