Using finite element analysis (FEA) driven by a Cray Supercomputer, Ping engineers optimized the Ping G10 driver's crown, sole and face structure interaction to ensure maximum energy transfer to the ball. The 460cc driver features a larger profile with a taller face and deeper crown that produces a higher MOI (moment of inertia) for greater forgiveness and increased ball velocity.
The Ping G10 driver is engineered with a cast body and fully machined face from high-grade 6-4 titanium. The Ping G10 460cc club head features a larger profile with a taller face and deeper crown that produces a higher moment-of-inertia for greater forgiveness and increased ball velocity. Thinner crown and face designs of G10 Driver provided discretionary weight which is positioned inside the club head to lower the CG (center of gravity) for reduced spin and higher launch.

Ping’s patented variable face thickness technology produces a thin, highly responsive hitting surface for increased ball velocity and greater consistency across the face.
The head shape at address is very traditional. Cosmetically the ping g10 driver is very similar to the G5 and G2 drivers for those who are familiar with Ping’s previous offerings. Better players will appreciate the dark color head which actually makes the 460cc crown look smaller. The alignment aid is more subtle in this model and it does its job extremely well without distracting from the overall aesthetic of the club.
The sound at impact is a muted “thwack” and is a welcome departure from the loud “ping” that many golfers often encounter in advanced geometry club heads.

Performance – The G10 seems to be good in all areas but not great in one particular one. It offers good distance, good feel and good forgiveness. Very rarely do we hear someone claim that the G10 is the longest, or best feeling or most forgiving driver that they’ve ever hit. Overall… most agree that the performance of the G10 equals or exceeds the performance of other drivers at the same price point.
Feel – Most people are right down the middle here. Some find the G10 a bit hard or harsh but note that heel and toe shots still feel solid. We get a lot of positive comments on the sound of the G10… it’s one of the few drivers that doesn’t sound like a hollow pop can when hit.
Value – This is a strong category for the G10. It’s definitely one of the better drivers for the money. Some wonder why Ping bothered with the Rapture driver when its sister club offers similar performance at a much lower price.
Innovation – So is it noticeably better than the G5? Not really. The company has improved the look and forgiveness but we don’t see too many people trading in their G5 drivers for this one. The G10 driver isn’t really loaded with earth-shattering technology and golfers looking for the latest and greatest may be disappointed. Ping offers some great shaft options and their custom department is one of the best in the business. The addition of a “draw” model is a nice touch too.
Overall… people that don’t already have a G5 driver should have a look at the G10. Ping has shown us that traditional looking clubs aren’t dead… good looking drivers can still offer solid performance. The G10 is one of the better “bang for the buck” drivers on the market.

The club is actually one of the best drivers I have ever hit,longer and straighter than what I have used in the past.

Just purchased this driver after trialing many others as well, kept coming back and picking this one up and overall the results were far more consistant, generated very straight distance
This driver is easy to swing and the shaft seems to be have a little more flex than most other regular flex shafts.
My swing speed is 105mph. Bought the G10 with the regular flex and the feel and kick is much more lively. Didn't do any real distance head-to-head comparison but it seems like at least the carry is further.
I've tried almost all of the drivers out there. This is the best, longest driver I've owned. Added VS Proto shaft to keep ball flight down. Sets up square, sounds great, goes long.

This driver is sweet. Played with it the first time, in a competition on Saturady, 1st tee and i RIPPED it! Straight down the fairway, 280 yards - best driver ever! I ended up winning the competition by 3 shots, and took the money right home!
